What is Saffiano Leather?

What is Saffiano Leather?

Saffiano leather is a leather finish technique invented by the House of PRADA.  It is now a very popular leather most commonly used by high end fashion houses and has been adopted by many handbag designers around the world.

Soprano’s Saffiano leather is a textured top grain cowhide leather.  The leather carries a signature cross-hatch pattern achieved by treating it with a specialised stamping machine.  Then the leather is finished with a wax treatment, rendering it very resistant to stains and scratches, and giving it an unmistakable subtle sheen.

Saffiano leather is also sturdy, which is a positive attribute as it keeps your handbag in shape.  This leather has gained tremendous popularity because it combines exceptional durability and stain resistance with elegance and class.

How to care for Saffiano leather?

Saffiano leather is durable, highly scratch resistant, water-repellent and exceptionally easy to keep clean.  It is usually enough to wipe down your Saffiano leather bag with a cloth and some water.  Occasionally, restore the original subtle sheen by applying a thin layer of leather conditioner.
